Government to Appoint Senator-in-Waiting Bert Brown to the Upper House
April 18, 2007

Prime Minster Stephen Harper took another major step in the democratization of Canada’s Senate by announcing his intention to appoint Alberta Senator-in-waiting Bert Brown to the Red Chamber.

Mr. Brown, a Calgary-area zoning and property development consultant, received the support of more than 300,000 Albertans in that province’s Senate elections in 2004.

Prime Minister Harper said Canada’s New Government will continue working to achieve the goal of having all Senators elected.

The Liberals are demonstrating how out-of-touch they are with mainstream Canadians by continuing to obstruct the passage of Bill C-43 and Bill S-4.
