Hanger Applauds Bruce Howe for Years of Selfless Service
June 29, 2006

Calgary, AB - Art Hanger, Calgary Northeast Member of Parliament and Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights, recognized Bruce Howe for 11 years of dedication to raising awareness and providing relief to those affected by domestic violence through the Kelly Howe Star of Hope Campaign.

“Following the loss of his daughter Kelly to domestic violence at the hands of her partner, Bruce Howe took it upon himself to raise awareness about this issue and to raise money for Calgary’s emergency shelters,” Hanger noted.

“After 11 years of selfless service, Bruce is now taking a well-deserved rest and will hand off the torch to others in the community to continue the job of helping those who are affected by domestic violence and abuse,” Hanger added.

“Bruce and his family learned a painful lesson and turned their grief into something positive for this community, and they deserve our thanks and gratitude for all the work and energy they have put into the Kelly Howe Star of Hope campaign,” Hanger concluded.
